Signs Of Opposition To The Martin/Pope Road Tax Growing

The Martin Chronicles originally planned a little diversion from the rampant turmoil in Mayor Mike Martin's Villa Hills today. But we felt the need to report a recent development. Signs urging voters to say NO to Martin and Councilman Mike Pope's attempt to squeeze an additional $315,000 out of the hides of Villa Hills' taxpayers are beginning to pop up all over town. We applaud their effort to stop the ridiculous proposal. We sincerely hope the opposition is successful.

Maybe some residents are starting to see the mounting problems.
  • Unchecked spending, including the "evaporation" of a nearly $120,000 surplus
  • No financial reporting
  • Lawsuits
  • Rampant cronyism
  • Third World dictator management style
  • City computers being removed by the mayor in the middle of a serious investigation
  • Skyrocketing legal fees
  • Allegations of sexual harassment
Why give more of your hard-earned money to an out-of-control mayor? Keep in mind that the Martin/Pope tax increase will cause more than ninety percent of Villa Hills households to PAY HIGHER TAXES. In many cases the tax increase will be large.

We agree with the opponents of the proposed tax. The Martin Chronicles urges you to vote NO on Tuesday, November 8.
