What’s that old joke? Just because you’re paranoid, it doesn’t mean they’re NOT all out to get you!
Several sources have told The Martin Chronicles that Mayor Mike Martin claims he just doesn’t understand why council is so upset that he put taxpayer-funded computer hardware in his personal vehicle and left with it after city business hours. Martin claims he was just taking the computers to be repaired. Let’s give the guy the benefit of the doubt. Maybe he is just dangerously stupid.
But it’s the darndest thing. We looked at the website of the computer company Martin hired. That computer company has the same business hours as the city building. Both are open 8am to 5pm, Monday through Friday. So what happened to the computers from the time Martin took them and the next time the computer company was open for business? Could that be why council is so upset?
We learned something else from the computer company’s website. They could have actually fixed the computers on-site during normal business hours. Or, and this is amazing, they could have come to the city building and picked them up to take all the way back to their shop in the not-so-distant City of Erlanger themselves. We predict Martin will self-righteously claim he took them himself to save taxpayer money. We say, “Sure you did”. Could that be why council is so upset?
Council could be upset for those reasons. They may also be upset because the removal of the computers took place in the midst of a very serious investigation into questions surrounding the conduct of-you guessed it-Mayor Mike Martin! Interesting timing to be sure.
Observers are just waiting for Martin or his die-hard defender Mike Pope to make wild claims about what either was or wasn’t on the computers. We’ll be watching.
