The Adventures Of Old Mary

The Martin Chronicles has been observing the antics of current Villa Hills councilmember Mary Koenig for quite awhile. Our reporters have talked with many people who have had the mostly-misfortune of dealing with her over the years. Our conclusion? Only malfeasant Mayor Mike Martin deserves to be voted out of office more than Koenig.

Why? Time and time again Koenig has revealed herself to be a master of the dark side of local politics. She is perpetually plotting mean-spirited attacks on her perceived enemies. It is becoming evident that the malfeasant Martin has learned quite a bit from her.

Let's explore just a few examples:
  • Koenig was behind the sinister plots to have two Villa Hills Police Chiefs fired. Her attempt to have Corky Brown terminated blew up in her face and led to the forced resignation of her hand-picked mayor. Koenig had better luck eliminating Dan Goodenough. Unless you have been living in a cave for the past year, you remember the disgraceful, costly kangaroo court that forced Goodenough from his job last March.
  • Koenig was the "mastermind" who cagily lured soon-to-be-former bilious blowhard Judge Executive Steve Arlinghaus in to the debate about the future of Villa Hills local police department. Seduced by the false promises of Koenig and mendacious Mayor Mike Martin, Arlinghaus foolishly bought in to the baseless vision that he could ride in to his home town on his bow-backed white horse to offer up the Kenton County Police to provide police protection. Arlinghaus made a fatal political mistake. He trusted Koenig and Martin. Now Arlinghaus will soon be on the outside looking in. Arlinghaus' overwhelming defeat in his hometown of Villa Hills made all the difference. Good riddance, Mr. "Witch Hunt".
  • Koenig is actually the one who convinced the low-IQ Martin that early-2013 was the perfect time to more-or-less accidentally reveal his vile plan to disband the local police department. Much to the surprise of Koenig, the low-IQ Martin and others, a huge contingent of residents-who would otherwise be busy simply trying to make their way through the world-rose up to rally a huge majority of residents against their devious plan.
  • Koenig cleverly convinced current councilmember Holly B. Menninger-Isenhour to run for mayor. Does Koenig support Menninger-Isenhour? Of course not. Koenig simply wants her "gone". Why? Because Menninger-Isenhour frequently caused Koenig embarrassment when she fumbled her Koenig-spoon-fed attacks on the police department at public council meetings.
  • Koenig is the "mastermind" of the dishonest effort the marginalize the Sensible Citizens group. Koenig is the one telling anyone who will listen that the group is "partician". Despite the complete absence of any evidence at all that they are anything but a group of selfless residents who have grown weary of Martin's perpetual embarrassments.
  • Koenig is the "mastermind" of the deception that Villa Hills is "moving forward". Or, as she likes to say, "moving foe-ward". Despite the taxpayer-funded political propaganda Martin recently mailed, there is no evidence to support that wild claim.
  • Koenig routinely denigrates her "enemies" by describing them as "the good old boys network" and "the old guard". The only thing her "enemies" have been guilty of is trying to "guard" the city treasury from Martin's reckless spending on lawyers and lawsuits.
Ironically, it is Mary Koenig her self who best represents "the old guard". First of all, she is far older than anyone else involved in the Martin train wreck. Secondly, no one else has "served" on city council longer than Koenig. She was first elected to city council in the last century. 1989, to be exact.

It's also quite clear that Koenig has little respect for the residents. Don't you remember her comment that the residents "don't need to know" the details of Martin's wild spending on lawyers and lawsuits? Sure you do.

Oh, we know the opinionated haters are going to howl about this post. But this post has nothing to do with "ageism" or "misogyny".

We're just sick and tired of Koenig's mean-spirited approach to virtually everything.
