Meeting Friday Night

The Martin Chronicles has seen the Facebook posts. We suspect that many of our readers have as well. A meeting of people concerned about the ongoing, heavy-handed abuses of Villa Hills malfeasant Mayor Mike Martin is scheduled for this Friday evening at The Madonna Manor Community Center Building located at 2344 Amsterdam Road beginning at 7pm. While we have no idea what will come of the meeting, we applaud the fact that these people are doing something.

The residents of the tiny tyrant's troubled town have now had the opportunity to see the mendacious Martin LIE directly to reporters from Channels 12, 9 and 5. But the reporters from all three local television stations remained unconvinced after talking to Martin. They have described how Chief Dan Goodenough was given the unseemly ultimatum to either resign and remain silent or be fired and face the wrath of Martin's legendary "smear machine" that worked so well for the diminutive dissembler in both the 2010 and 2012 elections.

A huge swath of Villa Hills residents have had positive experiences with the embattled Dan Goodenough. They have been helped by the Chief in times of crisis. They have either seen their children graduate from the local DARE Program Chief Goodenough began, or are graduates themselves. They have either sent their children to the Chief's babysitting classes or attended those classes themselves. They have either assisted or benefitted from Chief Goodenough's selfless efforts to help the River Ridge Resource Center. They have watched Dan Goodenough's dedicated work for the annual Shop With A Cop program that has brought a little joy to underprivileged children every Christmas now for years. There is no disputing the fact that Dan Goodenough is an excellent human being who deserves far better than Martin's bullying.

But Chief Goodenough now faces the wrath of the malevolent Martin and his mindless minions. Martin and his fellow mobsters will use and abuse open records requests, "anonymous" letters, personal-and now City-Attorneys, City Clerks, false police report filings, the State Auditor's Office, bogus complaints to The Better Business Bureau, The Kentucky State Police and everything else they can dream up to harass and intimidate those who dare challenge them. After all that Chief Goodenough has done for Villa Hills, Villa Hills should stand with him.

Edmund Burke famously said, "All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men (and women) do nothing". Now is not the time to do nothing. Now is the time to do something and support Chief Goodenough.

Villa Hills residents can do something beginning with their attendance at Friday's meeting.
