That is of course until he was finally outed by the lamestream media a few weeks ago and launched into his brazen, "As I have been telling everyone all along" NONSENSE. The TRUTH is that Martin has been initiating meetings with other police agencies since the summer of 2010. In other words, before he was even elected. The TRUTH is that every time he was asked about his desire to outsource the City's police protection during his dirtbag mayoral campaign and during council meetings after his election, HE STRENUOUSLY DENIED IT. In other words, Martin LIED.
Well here's the problem. If Martin truly believes that having an agency headquartered outside of the City limits providing protection is such a wonderful idea, why has he been LYING about his secretive planning? Given his unjustified penchant for telling all of us how wonderful he is, why didn't Martin announce in advance that he was going to:
1. Take a serious look at outsourcing police coverage;
2. Form a committee comprised of people from many backgrounds to conduct the examination;
3. Give the committee three to six months to conduct a thorough study;
4. Report the findings to council and the public;
5. Hold hearings to take public input; and
6. Take a formal decision on whether or not to proceed.
In other words, why didn't Martin take a professional approach for a matter as serious as disbanding his police department? Instead, he has been scurrying around in the dark like a cockroach collecting information that he hopes will somehow justify doing what he is already hell bent on doing-getting rid of the police department.
If you oppose Martin's secretive efforts to disband your police department, you had better speak up about it. Or forever hold your peace. And lock your doors.
