Huh? What? How can a "nuisance officer" cite residents for supposed zoning infractions that aren't, well, er, uh, eh, legal zoning infractions?
As our regular readers will recall, at malfeasant Mayor Martin's desperate urging, the council voted to pay the NKAPC taxpayer money to enforce legally approved zoning ordinances in his troubled town. The City Council also approved the NKAPC's rules and regulations. So under what authority would Koenig's "nuisance officer" impose sanctions for any supposed violations that are not covered under any law? Her idea is crazy-and dangerous.
Perhaps Koenig wants to hire former NYPD detective Gino Felino to serve as the City's rogue "nuisance officer". In case you don't know, Steven Seagal portrayed Felino in the 1991 vigilante classic, Out For Justice. Everyone at The Martin Chronicles loves that movie. Nevertheless, in real life, every sane person-which excludes the Martin-Koenig clan-would cringe at the thought of a rogue policeman like Gino Felino breaking law after law to get the "bad guys". But this is what the Martin-Koenig clan clearly wants.
We think the best scene in Out For Justice occurs when Felino bravely struts in to the crime kingpin's bar and beats the tar out of everyone while asking, "Has anybody seen Richie?" Great fantasy stuff. But patently illegal.
So is this what the Martin-Koenig clan wants? We can see it now. The "nuisance officer" sucker-punches a poor resident and asks "Has anybody seen a lawn care service?" Why? Maybe because nosy neighbors Gene and Gladys Kravitz-Dopin thought their neighbor's grass was a quarter of an inch too high? Or they had too much crabgrass? Or dandelions? Seriously? This despite the fact that there is no law justifying the "nuisance officer's" actions? C'mon, man.
We are witnessing a City Government drunk with power. We are witnessing a bunch of doofus demagogues who want to impose their twisted will on the residents, legal or not.
It all goes back to Martin.
