There will be a caucus meeting in Villa Hills tonight. That fact brought back a humorous memory. Don't fret. There will be plenty of time to report on Martin's Firegate Scandal in future posts. (HINT: The evidence is piling up and the investigation is moving forward full speed ahead.)
One of the funnier moments from the first grim year of the Martin Administration came from the top vote-getter in 2010 Villa Hills council race. When the date of an upcoming caucus meeting was announced, Noll briefly looked up from his iPhone and asked, “What’s a caucus?” Despite Noll’s clueless gaffe and given what has been the inattentive state of the voters in the little city, those who are clued in should not take Mr. Noll lightly.
Councilman Jim Noll is a man on the move. No, we aren’t writing about the very serious allegations that Noll has been making moves on city employees. The Martin Chronicles will have a lot more on that story in future posts. Now we are writing about Noll’s cynical political skills.
Pandering to the “raised-pinky” crowd and the St. Joe’s Heavy-Drinking Men’s Society, Noll proposed bringing in a mediator to help end “the bickering”. While Noll is probably smart enough to know that a mediator could play no role in the current, serious policy disputes, he is definitely smart enough to throw these effete constituents a phony bone. The old Nollster is one slick cat.
Noll is also throwing red meat to the government haters by very publicly pushing to slash city employee benefits. The Tea-Partiers and Liberty Leaguers must be ecstatic. Why those lazy shovel-leaners, doughnut-eaters and paper-pushers don’t deserve anything they get! Just because they have to carry a gun and wear a bullet-proof vest, or plow snow for sixteen hours straight, or field our calls asking why our internet is out or Insight changed their cable line-up. Why who do they think they are? Way to go Noll-man!
Noll’s best move yet? His deceitful campaign trying to con you into voting yourself a whopping forty percent property tax increase. How? By falsely telling you that it was actually a vote to repeal the dreaded $40 license fee. This scam was a stroke of genius. You may think Noll was disappointed when the tax proposal was annihilated in November. No way! Noll gets the best of both worlds. There will be no ill will generated by a huge jump in property taxes. Noll will simply be remembered by the civic clubbers and other vine-swingers as the guy who tried to eliminate the sticker tax! Beautiful, Jimmy!
Noll was the top vote-getter in 2010. He did this without any campaigning. The next council election is just 298 days away. Given Noll’s adroit political skills now on full display, Mayor Martin thinks Noll might even finish higher in the 2012 council race!
