Document Retention Statute Review: UPDATE

The Martin Chronicles researchers have been diligently working on the potential fallout from Mayor Martin’s Thursday, January 5 city document “barbecue”.
We suspect Martin will try to lay blame on either the public works crew and/or the temporary clerk who came hired to help with the tax season that ended November 30, 2011 and will soon be heading for an extended break in Florida.
But Kentucky Revised Statute 171.680(1) titled “Records management by agencies” makes it abundantly clear who is completely responsible for Thursday’s flaming fiasco. It reads, “The head of each state and local agency shall establish and maintain an active, continuing program for the economical and efficient management of the records of the agency.”
Who is the person who constantly reminds anyone who will listen that he is “the CEO”. Who is the person who is fond of saying “It’s my decision. Get over it. We’re moving on.”? Why of course, that is Mayor Mike Martin-the head of the local agency.
