Martin Has Some "Splainin" To Do

Like many Americans, we here at The Martin Chronicles are fans of TV's original sitcom, I Love Lucy. Lucy’s black-and-white hijinks were fun even though they always got her in colorful trouble. Often times her beloved husband Ricky Ricardo would say “Luuu-cy! You have some splainin’ to do!” Lucy would then cry, “Whaaaaaaaaaaaa”, explain herself and then things would work out in a happy way in the end. Maybe things worked out for Lucy because it was a TV show and not real life. Maybe things worked out for her because Lucy always meant well and her antics weren’t serious.
Well, Mayor Martin sure “has some splainin’” to do. We don't expect an I Love Lucy ending.
The Martin Chronicles broke the story about city documents being destroyed by order of “CEO-Deal With It-We’re Moving On-Martin” and have been reporting on developments in the Firegate scandal ever since. Here is the latest.
At the January 12 quarterly caucus meeting, Councilman Kilburn asked Mayor Martin about the burning. Following is a transcript of the exchange.
Kilburn: “The stuff that Mary signed, that was all that was destroyed?”
Martin: “Yes.”
Kilburn: “That was all that was destroyed.”
Martin: “Yes.”
As Ricky Ricardo might say, Mayor Martin! You have some splainin’ to do!
Multiple sources have confirmed to The Martin Chronicles that documents were recovered from the fire that were NOT listed on the letter Mayor Martin sent to council.
Increasing the potential of foul play, we have learned that Martin has questioned city employees to learn what documents had been recovered.
So here is where Mayor Martin needs to do some splainin’. If the destroyed documents were all on the letter sent to council, why in the world would the mayor need to ask anyone what was recovered? That answer is obvious.
Is this going to be a case of “Liar, Liar, documents of fire?”
Mayor Martin was also asked at the caucus meeting if the list of destroyed documents provided to them was signed the same day it was prepared. Mayor Martin said he didn’t know and would have to look into that.
That may seem like an innocuous question. But an honest answer to that question could have very serious consequences for Martin. We will report more on this part of the story as information becomes available.
We will also have more on the caucus meeting shortly.
Babaloo!
