Several sources confirm to The Martin Chronicles that Villa Hills Mayor Mike Martin continues to fret about losing his “wife’s house (?)” over his colossal mismanagement of the City budget. For some inexplicable reason Martin has convinced himself that he is going to have to pay out of his own pocket for the nearly $300K in budget shortfall he has already racked up. We have already reported that Martin needn’t worry. The taxpayers should.
Martin is so worried in fact that he has threatened to lay off the entire three-man public works crew. Why not? Martin isn’t going to spend any money on street repair this year anyway. Those guys may appreciate having this summer off. The mayor better have the crew finish his new, concrete personal parking lot before he “pink-slips” them though. The residents haven’t had to look at that many cones for this length of time since Beldar, Prymaat and Connie returned to their home planet of Remulak.
The Martin Chronicles continues to investigate the secret meeting story. We have confirmed that Martin and Councilman Mike Pope’s secret finance committee meeting was held on Thursday, March 1. This is a real problem for “Mr. Honesty” and “Mr. Integrity”. Why? Because Thursday, March 1 was not the date of the regularly scheduled monthly finance meeting. In other words, it was a SPECIAL MEETING. Very strict rules apply to the conduct of SPECIAL MEETINGS. It appears Martin and Pope may have violated nearly every last one of them!
We have also established that representatives from the Special Counsel’s office have reviewed the evidence that was recovered by law enforcement officials from Martin’s infamous January 5 “Document Barbecue”. Suffice it to say that the mayor has created yet another huge problem for himself and the taxpayers when he willfully destroyed City records and then falsified documentation in a feeble attempt to cover his tracks. Several witnesses claim to have seen police officers carry out boxes possibly containing evidence yesterday morning as well.
Special Counsel’s office has also confirmed that the endlessly interim City Clerk refuses to cooperate with their investigation. Speculation is that the clerk is afraid she will be implicated in several misdeeds. Here’s the good news. Sources in the Special Counsel’s office assure us that her cooperation isn’t necessary due to the tsunami of evidence they have already gathered. Want more good news? When Martin exits we will no longer have to call this woman the endlessly interim City Clerk. Why? Because her employment with the City of Villa Hills will most likely end within minutes of Martin’s departure for her willing complicity in Open Records violations and other Martin malfeasance.
