What Did She Say?

The Martin Chronicles has been receiving a near overload of e-mails, phone calls and tweets about a comment Villa Hills Councilwoman Mary Koenig made at Villa Hills' malfeasant Mayor Mike Martin's Monday night Finance Committee meeting. Speculation is running rampant. We looked at the video of the meeting that has been posted on YouTube to check Koenig's now-controversial comment for ourselves.

Koenig's odd comments begins at 44:12 in to the 1:19:31 minute video. The Finance Committee is talking about the looming problem of the County bailing on its commitment to Martin to collect the UNFAIR $40 PER CAR STICKER TAX (also know as the "license fee"). Koenig says, "It sounds like (unintelligible) need to get together and find out what they're gonna do. Let's call (unintelligible). Well, I think, there's only what? I know Taylor Mill, (unintelligible) collected because that's what I get charged on my car. Uh, But I don't know. Not all City's have them (the County) collect it."

Understandably, many Villa Hills' residents who have watched this video are wondering if Koenig somehow slipped up and admitted that she pays her license fee to the City of Taylor Mill. If so, why would that be?

The Martin Chronicles is going to do a lot more investigation before we offer our opinion on Koenig's comment. Instead, we'll share snippets from a few of the many emails we've received in the aftermath of the release of the Finance Committee video. Again, we are digging, digging, digging.

"...is that penny-pinching Koenig paying her license fee to Taylor Mill just to save a few bucks while the rest of us have to let Martin stick it to us?"

"Has Martin worked out some kind of crooked deal with the pinheads in Taylor Mill for his cronies on City Council to dodge the sticker tax? If so, they should all be tossed out!"

"... could be that Koenig had too many pops at cocktail hour before Monday's meeting."

"Maybe Koenig tripped up and let it slip that she isn't even a resident of Villa Hills. If so, they should throw her ancient butt of that messed-up council."

At least we pay our license fee!
