The Word On The Street

The Martin Chronicles began publishing almost a year ago. Over that time we have hosted nearly 60,000 unique visits. We recognize that our success is a direct result of the appalling mess made by Villa Hills malfeasant Mayor Mike Martin. So be it. We have also carefully cultivated numerous reliable sources who keep us up-to-date on Shorty's shenanigans.

Here is some of what we are hearing from our sources:

  • The Little Man From Norwood has "lawyered up". Stripped of his taxpayer-funded legal counsel, Martin has retained the services of the large, regional firm Thompson Hine. Before anyone begins to fret that Shorty will have to pay a fortune for his defense, we are hearing that the "Let's Save Martin's Biscuits" slate of Dale Schaber, Mary Koening, Holly B. Isenhour-Menninger, Brian Wischer, Herman Goering and Jim Cahill have told the malfeasant mayor to relax. Several sources tell us that these six have pledged that they will vote to have the taxpayers pick up the legal tab come January 1, 2013.
  • We have learned that several current City employees, an elected official and a former City employee have been subpoenaed to testify at the Martin Removal Hearing that begins Monday, October 8. It is not clear if they all intend to comply with the subpoenas. If some do not comply they will be handing the media a tremendous new story line. It will go something like, "What are they hiding?"
  • Insiders have revealed that even more evidence has been obtained of Martin's ongoing destruction of City records. While the Martinites will continue to shrug their shoulders at this serious misconduct, evidence will demonstrate that what took place was far more than "burning some papers".
  • The buzz is that a growing number of residents are finally beginning to assign the blame for the cost of the Special Counsel investigation exactly where it belongs. Where is that? In Mike Martin's lap. Residents are wondering out loud why Martin didn't just sit down with Special Counsel many months ago to clear up any concerns. That is, of course, unless Martin has something to hide.
  • On a slightly lighter note, word has reached us that local bookies are taking action on how many times Councilman Mike Pope will storm out of the upcoming removal hearing. The current over/under is nine.
