The Martin Chronicles believes Villa Hills malfeasant Mayor Mike Martin is banking that the same strategy once-Mayor Steve Clark unsuccessfully used in 2000 will pay off for him in 2012. For those who don't remember or haven't had the advantage of interviewing people who were around at the time, we'll explain.
A mayor serves a four-year term, council only two. Martin is counting on the people he has rallied to him combined with the folks who may be willing to do absolutely anything to end the embarrassment to wipe the slate clean of incumbents. The result? Martin thinks he will have two years of clear sailing and an opportunity to ride a wave of good feeling to a second glorious mayoral term. Given The Little Fella's penchant for perpetual foul-ups, the real outcome would most likely be far different. But people may be so desperate for peace that they will ignore Martin's lawbreaking and complete incompetence when casting their six votes for council.
We have to be careful not to base our predictions solely on the comments we heard from Martin's hillbilly lynch mob who attended last Friday's meeting. Many of those people have clearly taken a huge gulp of Martin's Kool-Aid. Our reporter was amazed when a couple of old biddies blamed everybody but Martin for The Little Man from Norwood's troubles. They went on to tearfully recount how Shorty "left church to help someone with a plumbing issue". The old crones missed the point that Martin is not licensed to do plumbing work. He shouldn't be doing plumbing or electrical work in anyone's residence even if he doesn't charge them a penny.
The Martin Chronicles advises the people who believe the law does matter not to panic. The incumbents who believe even a mayor should follow State statutes should not be discouraged by the admittedly far more vocal Martinites.
Get to the truth. Go out and campaign. If the voters decide that laws and statutes no longer matter, you have still done the correct thing. And, Villa Hills will once again be saddled with the corrupt and incompetent government it truly deserves.
